About the Artist
Drawing on the visual language of Abstract Expressionism, Romantic landscape painting, and the material culture of home improvement emporia, Adam constructs imagined terrains that blur the boundaries between painting, map, and artifact.
Integrating traditional art media with building and construction materials, his work unfolds through an archaeological process of layering, erasure, and excavation, revealing a dynamic interplay between disparate materials and debris, incidental marks, and the physical evidence of making, resulting in objects that function simultaneously as textured topographies and unearthed relics.
Raised in a family of visual artists, makers, and craftspeople in Southern California, Adam earned his B.A. in Film from UCLA. He currently lives and works in Connecticut, where he also leads brand and communications work for a national design retailer.
